Last night I went to a Birmingham Loves Photographers meet-up at 6/8 Kafe in Birmingham. The night was based on a discussion of film photography vs digital photography and a lot of interesting points were made. It was actually really fun, I had a most excellent flat white and also met up with Stuart from the land of Tumblr which was cool. Stuart, my brother and I went for some yummy noodles at Wagamamas after as well.
The night was also the start of the branch project which sounds really cool. Basically everyone takes in a print and then you pick another one out of the pile and interpret it in your own way then you bring your interpretation and the original back and then it starts all over again. Its kind of like Chinese whispers but with photographs which is pretty rad.
.
This is the photo I submitted, this is from the first roll of film I ever put through my canon and I don’t know why but I really like it.
The photo I picked up is going to mean some long exposures which should be fun.
The weekend just gone I went to Manchester for a couple of days to visit old university friends one of whom I haven’t seen in over 2 years. Becky lives in Fallowfield which is student central and boy did I feel old going to the bars there!
Manchester is a pretty cool city and I enjoyed wondering round with my camera taking pictures and just hanging out with my mates.
Skateboarders in Birmingham. No action shots though which is a shame.
Theres always that niggling thing in the back of your head when you shoot on film that the film isn’t loaded properly or that nothing will come out when you get them processed. I kind of like that though, yes its frustrating but its more rewarding when things turn out ok!
